The central idea
The digital experience had to feel made by the same hands as the bread: warm, direct and attentive to the practical details.

01 / Challenge
Preserve the warmth while fixing the practical journey.
The site needed to unite a broad daily product range, online ordering, the founder’s story and practical information for Stroud and Cheltenham. The redesign also had to avoid the migration risk of moving away from the bakery’s established Squarespace content and store setup.
02 / Approach
Rebuild inside the business’s existing system.
I explored three identity directions and their real-world application before redesigning the experience directly within the existing Squarespace structure. The content hierarchy connects the open-plan Stroud bakery, the Cheltenham location and the signature Nelson Loaf, while a mandatory collection-date field and checkout validation make Click & Collect more dependable.
03 / Visual archive
Craft, place and an easier order.
The work moves between atmosphere and utility—founder story, food, two locations, daily menus, wholesale and a more dependable collection journey.

04Added mandatory collection-date capture and checkout validation
05Created a visual direction grounded in craft, warmth and freshness
05 / Outcome
What changed.
The finished experience gives The Artisan Baker one coherent digital front door for brand, story, locations and ordering. It preserves the character of the physical bakeries, reduces transfer risk by working within the existing platform and adds a practical validation layer to the fresh-goods collection journey.
